The Teacher’s Guide is required for teaching Language Arts 1. It includes detailed teaching instructions, answers for all student exercises, answers for quizzes and tests, spelling word lists, oral reviews, and alternate tests. A daily schedule in the front shows how Language Arts lessons coordinate with lessons in Learning to Read. Students don’t begin Language Arts until they are ready for Lesson 5 in Learning to Read LightUnit 105.
The Teacher’s Guide includes LightUnit pages displayed at a reduced size with the answers filled in. You can easily see student assignments and check their work from the Teacher’s Guide.
Ten LightUnit workbooks provide 120 lessons, including quizzes and tests. Lessons cover phonics skills, grammar, punctuation, writing, spelling, and penmanship. In addition to exercises relating to the new concept being taught, lessons include review to reinforce material from previous lessons.
Each LightUnit includes two quizzes and a test that should be removed from the LightUnit before the student begins working in it. The quizzes are perforated sheets in the back of the LightUnit, and the test is stapled in the center of the LightUnit.
